Edible Education Guide

Hamilton’s Edible Education Guide

Taking food beyond the plate and into the classroom!

Hamilton’s Edible Education Guide is for administrators, teachers and staff to have a one-stop shop for food literacy programming and resources that is available for their school, classroom or after-school program.

Hamilton’s Edible Education Guide offers food literacy programs that address curriculum requirements to all Hamilton schools, as well as resources around school gardens, nutrition education and classroom lesson plans.

Tastebuds provides universal access to food for over 27,000 students every day in Hamilton, with 160 programs (and growing). Tastebuds’ Edible Education Guide helps to collect, develop and promote programming and initiatives that address food skills and food knowledge.

The goals of Hamilton’s Edible Education Guide are that all Hamilton students will:

  • Have access to enough healthy, culturally appropriate food every day.
  • Learn how to grow, prepare, and choose healthy food.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the food system.

This will enable them to make smart healthy choices, improve food literacy and carry these learned skills through life.
